Film. Food. Wine: Napa Valley Film Festival

If you have plans to be in Napa Valley around November 9th-13th you may want to make sure you attend some of the events for the Napa Valley Film Festival.


Napa Valley Film Festival (NVFF) Announces Event Line-up for the inaugural Film Festival, November 9 – 13.
Highlights Include More than 75 Independent Film Screenings; Studio Sneak Previews; Opening Night Gala at Robert Mondavi Winery; Tribute Program at Lincoln Theatre; Buick Tweet House at the AVIA Napa Hotel; VIP Dinners at Private Winery Estates; and Closing Night Awards Ceremony and Wrap Party.
Napa Valley Film Festival (NVFF) Co-Founders and Directors Brenda and Marc Lhormer have announced the line-up of special events at the inaugural Film Festival.  Showcasing the best of new independent cinema along with the Napa Valley’s finest food, wine and hospitality, NVFF makes its debut with a five-day festival spanning four postcard-perfect towns throughout the Napa Valley, November 9 – 13.

One Hope Wine: Wines that Help Others

I ordered a bottle of California Zinfandel from One Hope Wine the other week. As fall had rolled around I thought I should order a red wine. I settled on the 2009 One Hope Zinfandel from Napa. The cost for the bottle was $18.99 with $3.00 going to Snowball Express, an organization that supports families and children of fallen soldiers and $1.90 going to the charity of my choice from their list. I chose the ASPCA for my donation.

This event is the ultimate taste-off with preparations of lamb shoulder, shank, loin and leg. The lamb preparations will be accompanied by wine from 30 of Washington's leading wineries.

Bacon or Bust: Bacon Fried Rice Recipe

Another bacon recipe done from the Food Network Magazine "50 Things to do With Bacon" insert from the magazine.

28. Bacon Fried Rice Cook 1/2 cup chopped bacon in a skillet. Add 1/2 cup chopped scallions and 4 cups cooked rice; stir-fry until hot. Add 3 beaten eggs and 1 teaspoon each sesame oil and grated ginger; stir-fry until the eggs are set.
